Dawit Adnew was born in Addis Ababa in 1973. After finishing high school he joined the art
school and graduated from Addis Ababa University, Alle School of Fine Arts and Design in 1995
with a diploma in graphics art.
Dawit participated in various group exhibitions in addition to solo exhibitions, in Ethiopia and
abroad. His last show was at the Ethiopian National Museum in January 2017 with the title
Hidet, which includes his 20 years of studio experience.
At the present time his new work is displayed at the Alliance Ethio France on titled ‘’The image
of thoughts’’. Dawit also is one of the founding members of Netsa Art Village where he
experiments with found objects, recycling them into installations. Last word
Could there be any relationship between art and daily life?
Dawit says:’’I use the harmony of color arrangements and forms to see the thoughts arising
from my daily life. Therefore, a form placed in its own space gives beauty in harmony with
others. That is why I dramatize them by connecting them I achieve the dramatization to convey
my thoughts. For me, my paintings are like children toys which I lighten up with the colorful
